Andres Ballestas, CIMA®
Managing Partner

Andres Ballestas is the Founder and Managing Partner of the Ballestas Group.  Mr. Ballestas leads a group of highly qualified specialist focused in wealth management consulting and advisory services to ultra-high net worth families and family offices located in Latin America and Europe.  Since 2002 he has held the designation of Certified Investment Management Consulting Analyst (CIMA), and is a member in good standing with the Investment Management Consulting Association (IMCA).  In his role as Managing Partner, Andres’ primary focus is on the management of risk across his client’s portfolio of assets.

Prior to founding the Ballestas Group, Andres was a First Vice President of Investments and a Private Wealth Advisor at Merrill Lynch for 29 years, providing services to ultra-high net worth families.  He was a member of the Charles E. Merrill Circle, a distinction that only a few in the industry ever achieve.

Andres received his Bachelor of Science degree in Business and Economics from the University of San Diego.  He has completed numerous courses and workshops at the Wharton School of Business at the University of Pennsylvania and the Booth School of Business at the University of Chicago on leadership, risk and liability management, and alternative investments.

 

Felipe Ballestas
Managing Director

Felipe Ballestas is a Managing Partner of the Ballestas Group.  Felipe join the Ballestas group in June 2016. Prior to joining the Ballestas Group, Felipe held the position of Senior Vice President at Merrill Lynch where he worked for the past 22 years providing services and advise to ultra-high net worth families and was a member of the Merrill Lynch Circle of Excellence

Over his tenure at Merrill Lynch Felipe also worked at the Merrill Lynch Bank Suisse and lead the Financial Advisory Group team in Miami, helping Merrill Lynch Advisors and Clients with fixed income, equities, options and currencies transactions.

Felipe is a Graduate from the University of Georgia where he received his Bachelor of Science in Agricultural Engineering.

 

Felipe Jaramillo, CFA
Investment Analyst

Felipe joined the Ballestas Group as an Investment Analyst in April 2015.  His primary responsibilities encompass financial instrument analysis, portfolio design, and the development, implementation, and maintenance of the clients’ Investment Policy Statement.

Before joining the Ballestas Group, Mr. Jaramillo spent three years as the Portfolio Manager at Mythra Capital Management LLC.  Prior to that experience, he was an analyst on a special situations fund for three and a half years.  In addition, Felipe also spent five years as an adjunct professor at Universidad Externado de Colombia developing and teaching courses in Finance.

Felipe has achieved a Chartered Financial Analyst (CFA) designation and has been a member in good standing of the Chartered Financial Institute since September 2012.

Mr. Jaramillo received his Bachelors in Finance and International Relationships from Universidad Externado de Colombia.

 

Jorge Pena
Client Associate

Jorge joined the Ballestas Group as a Client Associate in November 2015.  His primary responsibilities encompass direct client support and customer service.

Prior to joining the Ballestas Group, Mr. Peña worked as a Client Service Associate at RBC Wealth Management for 12 years, where he provided multiple services like internal and external transfers, management support etc. Prior to that experience he worked in Corpavi S.A for 7 years as Assistant Officer, where he also provided client and customer support.

Jorge received his Bachelor degree in Business Administration from the La Salle University in Bogota, Colombia. He also specialized in Human Resources at SENA also in Colombia.
